Only when watching BD disc I see the picture jump or twitch on panned shots...I have horrible fear what it might be, but like an expert opinion.
Player is Sharp BD-HP20, screen is Panny TX-P50S11B.

I am no expert but, I see this from time to time on either my Panasonic 42PZ85 or our 42G10 using either a BD35 or a HTPC, it is probably down to the way the movie was shot and some people are more susceptible to the lower framerate on pans. As long as it is not does not spoil the film or become an obsession with yourself I would not worry to much about it.

It's starting to annoy the hell out of me !!!...... My Fear was the screen is not 24fps second compliant, which I specifically asked the sales guy to confirm, if this turns out to be the problem I will have been miss sold, and will be making a return visit.....
If it's due to being a cheap player, no worries I will replace it in due coarse.

often settings on the BD player in my experience.

also there is 24FPS compliant & 24FPS compliant. I think they have different methods of displaying 24FPS, some better than others.

Yes about once per second/half.......

The info on the BD Player box says 24fps.....

If I tried component connection instead of HDMI would that prove anything ?

Not sure that component will show 1080/24p? Might be wrong though....

Is it definitely judder you have (continuous pans aren't smooth) rather than the "Flicker" of true 24p? Some people can see it, some can't. (Luckily I very rarely notice it).

Nope R2 UK discs..... on pans it's smooth, then jump..smooth...jump...smooth...jump, about 1 or 2 per second..... Player no handling the data rate...... OR Heaven forbid I need a better HDMI cable !!!

Might be worth enquiring about firmware upgrades for the TV. I know ours (not the same make) was done to fix that and other issues

Even my Kuro isn't perfectly smooth, although pretty much as good as you can get.

Could be down to the player or teh tv, it's anyones guess. Trawl avforums if you haven't already, there might be a gem of info in there to sort it out.

I'd say play about with the TV settings and make sure you've got 24 hz working properly if possible, and reduce any optimisation settings on the TV - they can sometimes introduce more problems than they address.

My TV (Toshiba 37XV505DB) and HTPC play very nicely with blu rays on 24Hz, better than 50/60Hz, but not massively so. Once I got my software related problems sorted (latency spikes on my HTPC, was AMD cool n quiet btw) playback was buttery. On that note, make sure you have the latest TV and blu ray player firmware. Might have to email the TV manufacturer to make sure.
