I am trying to sort out my mates laptop. When I switch it on the blue screen comes up with an error message


blue screen a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer

why?

what do I do?

at what point during boot does the blue screen come up?

Chances are something installed badly and screwed it up.

Try booting to safe mode (mash the F8 key after BIOS splash screen) and try 'last known good configuration' and if that fails try the 'safe mode' option to see if you can get in.

10 secs after I turn it on

I cant access safe mode cos blue screen still comes up

f8 thing will dont work, blue screen will come up
