Guys,

I am running Windows 10 and for the last few months, all I seem to be getting is the blue screen of death.

Is there a tried and tested process to follow to pinpoint the reasons behind the crashing?

Or is there any other information that I can provide that might help pinpoint the issues?

Do you have any information as to what the BSOD says at all?

Maybe try checking event viewer first under system and see if ther eis any errors in there at the same time you get the BSOD

Any overclocks on the GPU or CPU can also cause BSOD so might be worth removing or lowering down any OCs in place (if any)
 
List all of your hardware specs.

Sometimes there'll be a firmware update that a member will know about. IE Crucail M4 SSD.

Does it crash under specific stresses?

I havent even tweaked any of the hardware its running stock at the moment.

Just booted the PC and checked the event viewer but nothing really stood out (not as if I really know what I am looking for anyway)... I opened Google and BSOD.

The error that come up was WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR

Hope that sheds some light.

I will list all hardware specs and re-post.
 
What ram are you using and what configuration? For example is it 8gb (2 x 4gb) or 16gb (2 x 8gb).

Maybe worth running memtest on the ram or trying one stick at a time and see if it’s down to a faulty stick. Could even be a faulty ram slot on the mobo.

As others have said list everything you have hardware wise, have you changed any bios settings like enabled xmp?

I have no idea on the temps, PC was on less than 5 mins and crashed. I am using a Noctua NH-D9L Cpu Cooler 92mm.

The machine was all put together January 2018, only the last 6 months has BSOD got to the point that its so unreliable and I would rather use the Mac.

Just running the windows memory test as I post this

Memory test came back with no errors detected

Maybe have a nosey in eventvwr.msc around the time of the BSOD - it is unlikely to write anything to the logs for the actual BSOD, but you can at least check the preceding events for any errors (in bot Application and System).

You can also download a BSOD viewer - I don't recall the actual name, but it's an app or script that will latch onto the dmp files that often get created by a BSOD - that might at least help to tie down the exact time before it crashes.
 
Found a couple of errors using eventvwr.msc in the application section.

Activation context generation failed for "C:\Program Files (x86)\Audacity\audacity.exe".Error in manifest or policy file "" on line . A component version required by the application conflicts with another component version already active. Conflicting components are:. Component 1: C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS\manifests\amd64_microsoft.windows.common-controls_6595b64144ccf1df_6.0.17134.885_none_fb42a3473065565f.manifest. Component 2: C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS\manifests\x86_microsoft.windows.common-controls_6595b64144ccf1df_6.0.17134.885_none_42efda1e44e17f65.manifest.

Would these be of interest?

Been getting the same since I accidentally caused my pc to lock up with a CPU overheat warning due to not cleaning my rad and running it hard on a very warm day, it became very unstable and I assumed that I had damaged the CPU, however after much troubleshooting to no effect I took the plunge to reinstall windows last night and things have been more stable since, not that the system has been stressed much yet though.
 
Had a couple of more errors appear this afternoon.

What Failed: klim6.sys


After a big of digging I have removed Kaspersky from the PC and also removed some old programs and apps that are no longer of use to me.

So far so good and no BSOD. I will post update in due course - wish me luck .

Daughter logged in to my administrator account and logged into EA Origin and played her Sims 4 - 5 mins later BSOD

But apart from that, the PC is stable. Ran a 'NOVABENCH' test and managed a score of 3022 without any errors.

Help, please guys
 
Finally bit the bullet.

Did a full wipe of the C drive and a new install only to find the PC is bloody worse.

I now login and within 10 seconds I get the BSOD

Any help on this one would be gladly appreciated.
 
Did you build the pc? I would try unplugging things and removing gfx card, ram, cpu and re seat everything
