blueray 360? :s

But the 360 hasn't failed as I explained, they've continued to cut away at Sony's share of the 'hardcore' gaming market. You must see how Sony coming from a position of strength with the PS2 is different to Microsoft from the Xbox?

Sony didn't have the hardcore gaming market, they had huge numbers of casual gamers. The casual gamers who have now bought a Wii (and most will be wondering why)

OMG the PS3 hasn't sold 100million consoles in its first year, what a failure!

Also, you can only call it a failure if you know its goals?

It has made blu ray the market leader, and likely the only one left fighting, in the HD optical storage.
It has sold more than the 360 in its first year, despite the amount of fanboys on forums like this and in the press.
They are probably on target to avertake MS with online subscribers this year (not going by accurate figures, but i would be surprised if they didn't)

In what way has it already failed?

The reason why Blu-ray has or will "win" is totally because of the PS3, the reason more film companies are behind it is because it's a part of the PS3, HD-DVD has been selling more stand alone players than Blu-ray for a while now yet Blu-ray software still outsells HD-DVD by 2-1 in America alone and by bigger margins in places like Europe, the reason for this is the people who want Blu-ray are buying PS3's because it's the best player out there, to say Blu-ray hasn't won because of the PS3 couldn't be more wrong.

I think the only reason Blu-Ray is winning is because BD+ seems to be a lot harder to crack than originally thought. A well known very sly company said they'd have BD+ cracked by christmas but they've not coughed up anything :o.

rubbish that makes no difference. thats you calling it a failure however well it does. the simple truth is, although only just, that it outsold the 360 in its first year. if that means its a failure, well then so is the 360. but what are you going to blame the 360's failure on?

I would say the popularity of the PS2 would make a hell of a lot of different on the sales of the PS3. Loads and loads of people bought the PS2 than the Xbox 1, they liked it and it did have some decent games, so they bought the next version of it. I loved the Xbox 1, so i bought the 360. That was the base of my decision because the Xbox 1 was so great.
