I am looking to replace an SSD. I need more space and cost of 4tb of SSD is prohibitive. It's a long time since I have bought a PC performance hdd so I am not sure which to get.

I looked at some test results, and see that for some reason slower drives pretty much match the performance of supposedly higher performance drives. In particular the test compared WD Blue with WD Black. This was very surprising to me. However, it puts in to question which drive I should get. So my question is, which do you use for a large capacity performance drive in your PC?

Has anyone tried Optane? Is it worth say saving money getting a WD BLue and then adding 32GB of Optane?

Cant speak for optane but I have a wd black drive and a big standard Samsung drive and the wd black drive is very much noticibly quicker.

They also have better warranty, I had one fail it's in fourth year and wd provided a new one very quick, even upgraded the size too
