Bluescreen - Graphics Card Problem?

have you checked temperatues of graphics card, processor, ram etc something maybe overheating.

I think the only one I can monitor is my processor and that's fine (40 at full load). Is there any way for me to check the temps of the ram and graphics card? I've touched them and they feel fine, but obviously that's not very accurate :p

realtemp does GPU temps now if i recall and for ram you would need a thermal probe.

Cheers, it did. GPU temp is staying at around 50 or 51. Is that an acceptable temp for my graphics card?

Here it is again if anyone can't be bothered to scroll up :p

Thank you for contacting NVIDIA Customer Care.

I understand from your email that you want to know the safe operating temperature of the Geforce 8800 GTX graphics card.

Please be informed that the safe operating temperature of the Geforce 8800 GTX graphics card is 70 to 85 degree centigrade. However, the GPU has been tested up to 145C core temperature.

Please feel free to contact us, if you have any further questions.

Regards,
NVIDIA Customer Care.

found this while looking around.
if that is the load temperature then i would say that is fine but if that is your idle then i would check load temperature with a game running and see what that goes to.

Ah cheers, sorry. I obviously didn't look hard properly.

I'm not a massive PC gamer so haven't got any really up to date games to thrash it with. Just checked the temps with Bioshock and Left 4 Dead and they went up to around 75... but usually when this happens I'm either just browsing the internet or I've just literally turned my pc on.

I've got all 4 memory sticks back in today and haven't had any problems so far even though I've been running stress tests and stuff.

motherboard!!!! loan a mates and test it i had a similar problem it all points to the mobo!!! try ur GFX in a nother machine and RAM if it works fine shud be ur mobo

The problem is it's so sporadic so I can really test it at a mates without borrowing their machine for days :( but thinking about it.... I don't even think any of my mates have similar hardware I can test it with.

i am actually running the exact same system buddy minus the tuniq tower and my Q6600 wasnt a guaranteed one but it doesnt work at all past 3Ghz i have even tried the voltage at 1.5V and it just dies miserably why dont you clock back down to 3Ghz, have you updated the BIOS?

Yeah well I reset everything back to default when I started testing the memory. It still happened even at stock with the 4 sticks in and I've left it at stock since.

I didn't happen all last night and hasn't happened today so far (touch wood) but next time it happens I'll give the BIOS update a shot I think. Hadn't thought of that.

Thought it had magically disappeared but I got another bluescreen yesterday :(

I'm really starting to think it's the motherboard (or possibly the power supply) but I don't know anyone with similar parts to test it with... and even if I did it can be so long between failures that it's almost impossible to diagnose using someone else's hardware.

Might just have to wait it out until the problem gets worse and easier to diagnose :p stupid idea I know but...

Edit - Forgot to say, we've been having loads of power cuts recently. What's the likelihood that's done the damage?

i've had the same problem... can only get my system stable with 2 sticks of ram... any more than that and i get blue screens and driver issues during loads. did you manage to solve it? got sticks sat on my desk not doing much!

Unfortunately not :(

I've got all 4 sticks back in and it boots and runs fine most of the time. Still occasionally get issues but for seemingly no reason. I can be playing a game on full and it'll work perfectly, then another day I'll just be browsing the web and it'll bluescreen.

Haven't got the time or the spare hardware to fix it at the moment though... so I'm just putting up with it. Only seems to happen every few weeks/months.

there doesn't seem to be a solution anywhere on the web (have spent the last 8 months looking). contacted OCUK and they said it should work with 4 sticks but couldn't guarantee it would. tried loosening the timings and the computer wouldn't even boot!
I seem to be getting it really bad as it blue screens/freezes every game i play any game!
will keep on hunting for a solution to this one!

i've actually just tried what i never thought of doing in the first place and tried the 2 new sticks on their own. same problem... i'm guessing it must be faulty RAM...
