Hi guys,

I just went to install Windows XP on my new system, and during the Copying Files part of the setup just after it formats the disk, the PC bluescreens with a NFTFS.sys Error.

It is an Asus A8N Premium, Athlon 64 x2 4200+ and G-skil 2gb ram kit and a WD Raptor74gig.

Anyone have any ideas on what the problem could be? I've tried setup twice now.

Thanks,

Mal

Right, i've plugged the disk into the 2nd SATA port and also deleted and remade the partition, and it has further than it did before.

However, just when typing this, upon restart after it copies the files, it has bluescreened saying the BIOS this system is not fully ACPI compliant.

OMG OMG OMG!

I had this exact same problem. Wanna know what it was?

The Freakin IDE Cable from my Optical Drive!

I tried everything. RMAd my HDD and memory. Got new parts returned. Still same problem! In the end I gave up and unassambled everything. About to put everything in the box and get my money back when I stumble accross the IDE cable that came with my mobo box. I looked at it carefully only to find out there was a tear in the corner of the cable revealing the copper wires. So in the end, long shot. Reassembled everything, tried same cable. Didn't work. Same BSODs. Then used a different IDE cable from my Opitcal's and guess what?

Viola! :D

I am now typing this message from the very same setup I speak of :)

Edit: Check your all wires. Every single one of them!

Had the same error message when trying to install X64 on a slipstreamed CD I created which I burnt to a blank DVD as I had also added 2GB of driver files. Resolved by reburning the XP image to a DVD but not adding anything to it. Could be related to that.
