Bluescreening now reinstalled cant get into windows?

No not tried another cpu yet. But i set the cpu to only use 1 core in bios and it got a lot further but still died. Its defo not psu looking like the brand new i7 is dead :(

Why did you not do the PSU swap 1st as it was easier.

The i5 will use less power so could still be PSU.

I have never heard of CPU dying from normal use only if somo9ne kills it with voltage.

I did do the psu first, firstly i thought it was software so did a reinstall (due to blue screens) as i was fairly confident it was not the psu, then i done the bios, then the psu. None of these cured the problem. So i then changed thr cpu and bam it works fine. The cpu has not even been slightly overclocked everything is on auto, im not saying that becuase i need to return it to overclockers as this one i bought from a shop down south (handily i can take it back in tomorrow)

The i5 & i7 are both 88w so power consumption is the same especially when only trying to boot windows. Its hardly going to be fully loading an i7.

The superflower psu will run the i5 but not the i7 and the 850watt corsair will run the i5 but not the i7

The only thing i can do to really be sure is drop the i7 into my machine but im now 99% sure it has to be the pcu

That good you sorted it but booting to Windows is probably more stressful then you would think and reason some OC Mobos have a higher voltage setting just to boot with then lowers once running.

Without been there had my money on the PSU.

when doing a search for the error the results stated it was a cpu issue or a faulty core, glad you have narrowed it down

Because i have had it 36 days im now outside the 30 day exchange period so now it has to go back to intel and could take a month until its tested :-O

What a joke ! Spend £260 on a cpu and then be told a monthto test it. Angry !

and I take it you tried the I7 in your build where you got the I5 from to test?

did it do the same thing and not get in to windows?

if so then it sounds like the CPU is faulty as rear as it sounds.

Just got off the phone to intel. OMG how helpfull are they ! They have arranged for dhl to pick up my cpu and will have another to me in 3-5 days. Explained everything i done and they said the cpu is definately at fault. They asked me to do a couple of checks. Gave them the batch number and they then just said 100% a cpu fault. Dhl picking up this afternoon and new cpu here weds/thurs ! Much better :)

Fantastic result! Glad to hear you got to the bottom of it :)

excellent! glad to see that they are sending you a replacement. first I have heard of a new CPU killing over so quickly even without you ocing it

Yup they did say even if i overcloked it its still under warrenty but i genuinely have not. Just got all the emails from intel confirming collection this evening and new one delivered weds. Have to say too job intel

its always good to see a supplier sorting the issue out with their hardware and not having to make you wait to test the CPU before replacing.

may even run a bit better as well with a new CPU in :)
