Bluetooth adapter for Sony Bravia KDL-42w805

Hi all,

I have a seven year old Sony TV that lacks Bluetooth and means I cannot easily ping videos from my iPhone to the screen (I can within Youtube, but not when using Facebook videos or in-app stuff).

I don't have AppleTV or any additions, but wondered if there was a bluetooth adapter that I could use to allow me to share videos this way?

(I am also assuming that a bluetooth adapter would allow me to do this!)

I don't believe a Bluetooth adapter is going to work for you in the way you hope. BT tends to be for either controlling a device, or for sending music wirelessly. It lacks the capacity to send the huge amounts of data required for screen mirroring.

Most external devices to do what you want will connect to the TV via a HDMI socket. You can screen mirror from iPhone using Airplay on Apple TV devices, or by using apps hosted on Roku, Amazon Firestick and Google Chromecast devices. These all use the house Wi-Fi to take care of the heavy lifting of moving video data.

Thanks - given the age of the TV it doesn’t get most apps, and wondered if Bluetooth would be an option. I’ll take a look at the other devices and see which looks simplest/cheapest!
