Is this anygood, or would you recommend another unit?

Uses the SiRFSTAR III chipset so should be perfectly fine. Pretty much the de-facto GPS chipset to use now. The Tom Tom units feature the chipset as do nearly all of the latest handsets with itegrated GPS.
