Bluetooth odb2 readers

I bought a DS150E clone from ebay. Fantastic bit of kit plugs in to a laptop though but if you do a lot of work on cars its well worth having it can give you real time info on a lot of different parameters with graphs which I always like :)

I've got a bluetooth one and a wifi one. Both work but the wifi one is more hassle. Only bought it so I could use my iPhone.

If I was buying again I'd get another cheapo bluetooth one. They work, are cheap, and every time I need it I'm glad I have it.

Thinking in investing in one of these as the EML comes on randomly every so often, but the car seems fine, so I am curious as to what sensor is messing around.

Anyone recommend a specific bluetooth one to use with Torque on the android play store?

I got given a cheap and cheerful Bluetooth OBD adapter, worked fine with Torque but wasn't good enough for ForScan which gives a more detailed diagnostic report. I bought a proper OBD to USB cable for that and it works great.

I have a little blue bluetooth one. Works great with the likes of Torque and FORscan :)

Obviously there are much more you can do and access with professional tools, but the cheapos are good for checking/clearing codes, monitoring things and just to have a geeky play around with!

If the light comes and goes by itself it 'may' not read the stored codes properly. I know with my Bluetooth one it often says no errors found but with proper kit it has highlighted some older saved ones.

A few thoughts:

How likely is OBD to change in future, making all the current kit redundant?

And how much would you need to spend on a good one which is future proof and offers all the features, assuming this exists? I wouldn't mind paying £20 or so for new software each time I buy a new car assuming I've got compatible hardware already.

My cheap ELM327 clone (blue/orange) label doesn't work with my car.

Torque can't find the correct protocol. Is it worth trying another cheap 327 module?
