Bluetooth stopped working on my new macbook pro

Ive started it up today, and its mysteriously stopped working

attempt to pair my bluetooth mouse and the system preferences tells me no bluetooth hardware was found

ive also lost the bluetooth menu at the top with the battery icons etc..

any suggestions ?
 
Sounds like the bluetooth card has become disconnected.

I think the bluetooth is on the wireless card, is your wireless still working?
 
Reboot, bring up a terminal and check the messages log and see if any bluetooth devices were detected at boot. That'll tell you if it's still connected, or if the module is cooked.
 
wiredly enough leaving it switched off for half an hour resolved it

not used to this mac thing of things fixing themselves. Far too used to PCs that break just cos its a tuesday :D
