Blueyonder/Telewest speed upgrades

Whilst network upgrades are, in some cases, a necessary precursor to the speed upgrades, the scheduled date of the latter cannot be deduced from that of the former.

In some cases it may be a few days between them but in many others it will be far longer. Solihull may well be scheduled for a network upgrade in a few days time but we already know that the speed upgrades won't arrive until November at the earliest I'm afraid, or potentially late October if they get ahead of themselves.

Interesting, seems to be quite random from upgrade to activation then?

Happy Birthday btw :)

According to a good source from Telewest, gillingham ubrs 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 and 8 will be seeing the speed increase monday Ttime to tuesday morning, hope this helps,, has it for it being random its not. some places already had the network upgrades done, and just needed the ubrs for the speed.

1+1 = 2. until you get the answer 2 you wont see the speed.

Its took them a few days to do all our ubrs, the last 2 are on monday, along with the network upgrade, there is no wait, apart from all the modems connected to recieve the update.

strange, when i do a speed test i get about 1-2 mbits. however here whilst downloading several things at once i got this:

anyone close to sutton/epsom got their upgrades yet? i dont seem to be getting the full 4mps yet really.

Yeah I live in Cheam and since the upgrade I am getting 5.5Mb connection or about 650KB/s...certainly not the 10Mb Telewest quote. Ive done the speed test at various different times of day/night in case it was anything to do with contention as well but its always the same

Same here in W. Park. I'm getting roughly 4 mbit, which is double what I had before. I'm thinking that either my old cable modem (Motorola Surfboard) can't cope or 10 mbit is a bit optimistic??

Who do we need to contact at Telewest to find out if the upgrade worked or not?

Give telewest a break guys...the upgrades have only just begun, there are bound to be some teething problems.

im not having a go at them, im just wondering if there could eb another problem or something. im perfectly happy with the 1mpbs i had before

Dear customer,

To enable us to make improvements to your service, including the recently announced speed increases, we will soon be carrying out some work on the network in your area.

To avoid any inconvenience we wanted to let you know in advance of this happening, as it may cause some minor disruption to your Internet service.

Disruption to your Internet service may occur at some point between today and 11 October 2005. You should only be affected for a period of around 2 hours between 10am and 5pm on the day the work is carried out. Your other Telewest services will not be impacted.

For more information, visit our blueyonder service status page (http://www.blueyonder.co.uk/status).

We apologise in advance for any inconvenience that this may cause you.

Regards,

The team at blueyonder

I honestly dont think it is worth contacting anyone at Telewest at the moment as they are going to have their hands full with these upgrades. Im just gonna wait and see what happens over the coming weeks. Let's face it 5MB is still a nice improvement over 2MB...and its for FREE! :D
