46378 UBR upgrades in Livingston Upcoming Broadband Oct 4, 2005 12:00 AM

Weeeee, only a month after the network upgrades. Hopefully it will be my UBR getting upgraded :D
Well if it is let us know as you're not scheduled until the end of the month so they'd be quite far ahead if you got upgraded now.

Just been announced that NTL have bought out Telewest so begin panicking over capping. Im sure it wont be long before NTL start bringing in the caps for blueyonder,

Said that gillingham ubr's and network upgrade was meant to be done yesterday and should have been finished at 7pm last night.

Although it still says Upcoming on the status page :(

I hope i come under the same grid, as i'm in chatham, but i can throw a stone into gillingham as it's the only side of the road.

Whenever my friends internet in gillingham goes down, so does mine, so i'm assuming where on the same grid.

Hope it happens soon :D

Have to admit, i can download at 120kb/s flat out, but if i stop downloads and just want to surf sites, it's SLOWWWWWWWWWWW :(

FWIW, I've just been speaking with customer services (on a different issue) and enquired about the schedule for Birmingham. She said the schedule she had in front of her said Birmingham was scheduled for between the last week of October and the end of November.

Given that we already knew it would be November at the earliest, if true this info at least means we won't be waiting until December or later for it :D

great looks like yorkshire will have to wait!!! typical, although the woman I spoke to at telewest yesterday said that the new prices come into force this month meaning that areas that are not upgraded can get 4mb for £35, or do you think they will stop people upgrading in the areas that have not been upgraded yet?

Gillingham is done.

My friend in ME7 is done.

I'm ME5 and mine should be done by tomorrow.

Which means Maidstone next Matblack :D

There is so much confusion over this it's untrue.

First they said the 4Mb/£35 would come in from October, then Oct/Nov, then Nov/Dec.

From what I've seen on the newsgroups today, some people are claiming that if you upgrade via the Selfcare webpage, you'll get 4Mb for £35, but if you call CS it'll cost you £50. The main 4Mb product page does say £35 but this could be construed as for new customers only. The Selfcare site doesn't have any pricing on it that I can see and CS have told me it'll cost me £50 to upgrade now.

Not particularly fussed whether I have to spend the next month on 2 or 4Mb really but if I can get my speed doubled for nowt then why not? :D

I thought the onlyway to uprgrade was via selfcare. When I uprgraded to 4MB I rang up and they said I had to do it via selfcare.

Just upgraded to 4MB from 1MB on the Selfcare page and it quoted me £35, the extra speed will be good until my area gets upgraded then I'll downgrade back to the £25 package.

I just went to selfcare to upgrade and in T&C got this:

Price
blueyonder broadband elite 4Mb service is £50.00 a month (Or £54.99 if you do not take a Telewest phone service)

The blueyonder broadband elite 4Mb service is currently not available to customers who receive their blueyonder service via their TV set-top box.

In the self care page it doesnt tell you the price. If i fill me details in to get to the next page will it tell me there. Im wary of going through to the next page and upgrading to 4mb for £50 a month and then being stuck with it. Is there another button after you insert your email to confirm?

When u have filled in ** email addy, then click go, and it will take u to terms and conditions. It will then tell u the price. As in my post, it said £50, so I cancelled and it said no upgrade was done.

Yeah i see now. There website is atrocious, i have never seen a more clunky heavy website. You need a 10meg connection just to view it. There is a complete lack of consistency about the broadband packages. Some screens say they have 4meg and 10meg others say the old speeds, and some pages have the old speeds with the new prices

Come on telewest sort your website out. I would love to see a sitemap for it, it would look like someting out of the labyrinth

I upgraded from 2>4 last night and it did say £50 but it'll only be for a few months max so I'm not bothered to much.

Thing is they charge you half again up front for the first month from what i remember, so you next bill will be huge

I'll see what happens, If I get a large bill maybe I'll kick up and see if I can get it discounted down to £35 p/m. I'm just edging for some faster speeds and know my area will be last :(
