Blueyonder/Telewest speed upgrades

Talked to a BY tech about a week ago and he said the North-west speed uplifts should happen before the 20th of December. There is a change freeze from the 20th to the new year, so if you haven't got your speed increase by then it isn't going to happen until the new year.

Reading the BY newsgroups it seems they are having a lot of problems with the Birmingham upgrades, because the area has a lot of old cabling it isn't up-to supplying the new 10meg speeds.

Just passing on what I have heard, hope it helps.

Oh for gods sake, it doesn't suprise me though, I think Birmingham was the first city blueyonder installed their network in, I remember them laying it, loads of "Murphy" vans everywhere, I've had their analogue cable tv since 1997 then digital in 2001. I'm on 2meg now paying 35 a month waiting for upgrade.

Err, what on earth are you doing on 2Mb? The 4Mb product is now £35 too so you may as well upgrade for free while you wait for the uplifts.

ermm yea, im on 2mb, and you say the 4mb is the same price? so why werent us 2mb users given the 4mb speeds then? and yea how do we do it for free?

Bloody hell i didnt know that!

In selfcare you can upgrade to broadband elite - which according to the blueyonder site is £35...im currently paying that anyway for 2mb. nice of them to let us know hey.

south yorks seems to be taking ages for 10mb too so 4mb here i come!

I did the same, but i rung them and asked them to upgrade me as I thought it was bad I was paying the same for 2mb as 4mb.

Now experiencing 4mb nicely

It's definitely £35 for 4Mb now, I upgraded at the beginning of October and have been charged £35 for it ever since.

It doesn't matter whether you do it via the website or phone, although if you use the website it could take up to 48 hours whereas if you phone it's much much quicker.

I've done it, nice one, I can't believe they were charging me £35 for 2meg when i can have 4meg for same price, and eventually 10meg.

that would be the one, ive done it also, but im gonna ring and get it quicker, cant believe all this time ive been paying 35 quid for 2mb, thats stupid.

It's not just twice the download, 4meg comes with 384k (44kbps) upload as well upgrade from 256k (30kbps).

its nice of them letting us know about we can upgrade to 4mb for the time being untill the 10mb comes along isnt it!!!
I will problably get out upgrade next year

as its still TBA on the site...
Although the 4MB should do just fine for the time being

Shouldnt be too long till i get the 4MB as I did it last nite from their site

im in B28, and getting pants connection, loads of lag over BF2, with downloads sometimes maxing out at 7-10kbs :eek:

Thats probably what it is, if they are messing about with the network
round here its going to affect things
