Bluray discs unneccessarily splitting content 'because people like it' :(

Considering the whole point of blu ray is to have a better picture and sound, id be seriously worried if they put 9 hours of film + extra features onto the one disk as I would be wondering whether they had simply put everything that is DVD quality onto 1 disk.

I would go for all 5 films on one disc option.

Hvd or 5d dvd disc im happy either way.

I think you have to realise that the reason many people, including myself, buy Blurays so that we can watch our favourite movies in really high definition and that the surround sound audio is superb. If there was a disk that could hold all three movies, extras, etc. at high definition then I wouldn't mind. However, there isn't a format like that available at present.

You could put say 5 DVD's on one Bluray - but what would be the point as the quality would be DVD quality rather than HD.

6 is the magic number

I know what you mean OP. Its like the marketing men putting 6 wheels on cars. ugggh drives me crazy.

Surely the best idea is not 1 or 5 discs but 6 with the whole saga on one disc as op requests

1) People don't watch 3 films in one go, so having to select which film you want in the menu is just an extra step
2) People want the nice display box on their shelf, if they didn't they could get it cheaper individually.
3) Cramming multiple films onto one disc is for budget titles, it looks budget and feels budget - it's not for premium experience box sets.

Maybe you should rip them all onto a media centre and play from the HD, you don't even need to see the disc then, hide it in the loft, that'll keep your shelves free for other stuff.

So yeah, your wrong. But i'm not really sure if your question was hypothetical or you thought there was legitimate evidence behind it.

It seems very much like the op had the thought "wait 1 blu ray could hold all three LotR films at once (thinking of dvd quality or just failing to understand the size of HD media) and that they don't because of marketing.

Instead of just asking that/why don't they thought it would be better to make up some crap about marketing executives telling him and him randomly pulling a fully deigned product mock up out of his ass to give it some sort of validity.

and who says your judgement of value is the correct one? ;)

Considering Radiation believes in the aether and that if you give everyone "abundance" they will all get along all dandy, and not just fight all the harder now they're well fed and don't have to worry about the basics like farming etc, I'd say his value and reasoning systems are skewed beyond all recognition..

I really prefer to just do away with discs all together, but as thats not really an option for HD films as they are HUGE! i would prefer to have more really, less likely to damage or lose all of them. Plus you don';t have to lend 5 movies at once to someone as they are all crammed together.

Plus i am happy spending 15-20 quid on someone i don't really like as a prezzie. I think the main reason for the pricing is just that - 20 quid doesn't feel like that much to spend on one HD movie :) Plus if you hate that movie flog it :D

Are you an elephant? ;)

The aether goes by many names these days in science it seems, i just like that one, if everyone had every need taken care of what would there be to fight over, i think it's you who has limited thinking and a flawed value system, how can anyone argue against living in abundance?

who gets more land?

who gets power over everyone?

Who gets to decide what happens after you die?

You know the things well fed and equipped people have been fighting over for the last hundred thousand years.

I'm not against abundance, but if everyone has the basics it just means there's more people free to fight and less things to do so more time to fight.

But yes I have the weird ability to recall most conversations/passing information in great detail yet can't remember what the hell i was meant to do when i walk into most rooms :/

Hasn't it been shown as quality of life goes up people become happier, have less children and form better communities?

As for who gets power over everyone, well i believe we would have more free time to take care of politics and create new forms of order, ones where every individual has a voice, so control goes back to where it should always have been, with the people!
