microsoft rep came into my friends work today [competitor] and confirmed bluray addon for 360 alongside a few other things of little importance to do with upcoming releases

this stuff doesnt bother me but i thought it might be interesting for you lot - sorry for having no online source

No competitors please - Zefan.

No offense but h'm more likely to believe Microsofts recent press release stating that blu-ray wasn't gonna happen than your mates story.

The rep has been very clever, he tells your friend that snippet of information. Then your friend might tell a potential customer of either system that 'oh i have it from good authority that a Blu-Ray drive is coming for the 360' then the customer buys a 360.
No drive ever comes, and it is you that is the chump and once again the consumer is screwed by misinformation.

find it hard to believe, the ms rep who visited the game shop i worked in was an old woman who knew nothing about gaming,

She did give me a pen that folded out into a model plane for the release of FSX

*edit* Damn phone spelling

i see what you guys are saying - i knew it would only be half info if i had no official source

just passing on what i heard

like i said - im not bothered about stuff like this - just thought you could all add it to your knowledge banks

only reason is because the same guy informed my friend of xbl only dlc for GTA and rainbow six vegas 2 about a month before i heard about it online/ in magazines

Any addon to any console = fail.

True.

I'd like to see them release an Elite SKU with a BD drive built in as standard, not only will it quieten the machines down but it's a much more attractive proposition.

An external "add-on" drive will be met with the same disinterest as the HD-DVD drive and PS3 will continue to be the multimedia console of choice.

either way i see it as bandwagon jumping

like i said - this was only really passing on info

duncan ballantine to microsoft...

"your product has no appeal to me - i cant see it outselling its competition in the current market - and for that reason i wont be investing - im out"
