Hi guys,

I have my PC connected to my full HD t.v via a DVI to HDMI connection. Colour and contrast look great and games look better than they did via the vga input on the t.v. The text on the desktop doesn't look as clear *via HDMI) as it did via the vga connection but I have less problems via HDMI (graphics card dectects the right res's and refresh rates the t.v can do). Is there any way to make the text clearer and has anyone else had the same problem with HDMI? The res is in the t.v's native res of 1920x1080.

Thanks:)

Probably overscan, do you have a '1:1' or 'justscan' scaling option in your TV menus? Is your graphics card ATI (my 3450 at least has an underscan/overscan adjust in the driver settings)? Which TV?

did you use the tv before, and now it's different with the hdmi?

obviously the tv has a bigger surface area for the same resolution so blurryness is aways expected, that's why I don't use mine

I used the tv before via vga input. The tv has a "just scan" mode under ratio, should I use that instead of 16:9 which it is on now?

Thanks

Yes, use just scan. Is this a Samsung? My LE40F86 overscans set to 16:9. You'll know if it's overscanning as you'll have lost part of the image outside the screen (i.e., can you see the taskbar/start button properly?).

Yes, it is a Samsung ( LE40M87BDX ). Turning it to "just scan" has made a difference. I will fiddle with the driver scan options and see if I can get it even better. What is yours set at?

Thanks mate

Just scan, and underscan->overscan set all the way to overscan (ATI catalysts). It's obvious when it's right, it's much clearer and the image stops when the bezel starts.

Does your tv go into sleep mode via Hdmi? Mine did via vga but with HDMI just says no signal. Not a big problem though as I can just turn it off.

EDIT: hmmmmm. In directx 10 games the display doesn't cover the whole screen (black borders). Its ok in directx 9 and desktop though.
