Hi,

I asked a few months ago on here about 330's however i decided to keep my car a little longer. However this weekend ive been given a 318d (e90 shape) courtesy car. Whilst its underpowered and very laggy in its delivery its a very nice place to be and made my Clio 182 feel somewhat un-insulated and basic.

So im now considering a 330 e46 again. (Ideally face lift although im not sure if my budget will stretch that far yet).

Does anyone have any pictures of both a non msport car and msport car as im struggling to tell the difference...if someone could also list the differences that would be brilliant.

Are there any other desirable options/specs i should be looking for?

Thanks,

Russ

Am i right in thinking that in the e46 330ci coupes there was the following models-

330ci Pre-Facelift Non M Sport
330ci Pre Facelift M Sport

330ci Facelift Non M Sport
330ci Facelift M Sport

If so could someone post me some pics of each one and explain the differences to me please?

Ive been trying to find out some information on the cars but alls google seems to churn up is reviews on how smooth the engine is.

Could anyone recomend a good owners club for the e46 coupes?

Thanks,

Russ

Sorry, im half asleep atm i meant a forum with a great deal of e46 owners. I appreciate the coupe and saloon are virtually the same in all ways other than design.

So in that case ill be looking for a sport. Ive noticed the sports have nicer seats, more bucket like than the standard flat seats. Are there any differences to the suspension etc?

Thats that decided then. My buying criteria is now a manual, sport 330ci. Anything else that is desireable?

Seems the majority of cars are automatics unfortunately, however i guess this is to be expected on a class of car such as a BMW.

Ive been looking on Autotrader, Pistonheads and ebay for a manual 330ci and the selection available is quite limited.

Are there any other mainstream sites im missing with classifieds?

Lol no. Not at all.

I just have quite specific requirements i guess. 02 or newer, sub 120k miles, leather, manual, full bmw/specialist history and ofcourse the condition must be as good as can be expected for a car 5years or older.

Id prefere to have a car 7 years old max to be honest. Ideally 5 years old if possible although my max budget is ideally £8k - £9k at a push if the right car comes along so not sure how achievable this is.

Completely agree with everything your saying.

When i bought my Clio 182 i paid over the odds for that due to the nature of the car. The lad i bought it of was of similar age to myself however he had always had the car serviced at Renault and the car had Michelin PE2 tyres all round that had been fitted during his ownership. This so far seems to have paid of well in the 18months or so ive had my 182 as its been faultless during ownership.

Ive just been looking at the saloons and it does appear you get a lot more for your money with them. They dont however have the same visual appeal to me as the coupe's do. This may sound a little daft i know as they are essentially the same car minus 2 doors but i just cant help but think if i bought a saloon id end up regretting it.

Quite like the look of this. Could someone tell me if the sharkfin aerial is stick on tat or is it factory fit? I didnt think they were fitted until a lot more recently but i might be wrong as im not that clued up on BMW's yet.

Edit - Just looked at pic 8 of the wheel...is that tyre a Wanli? If so forget i even mentioned the car if people put cheap tyres on a car especially a >200bhp rwd car then i wonder what else have they have had done on the cheap.

Seriously what do people think sometimes? Im trying to sell my car so ill put photos on with my kid sitting on the roof? (see link) http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1208885.htm

however ive just seen this forsale on bmw land, love the interior of this. I need to get my car sold so i can start looking seriously at buying. -

Those Sports seats have a strip down the middle, what is that? I don't have that on mine!

Something about the E46 coupe where the paint looks amazing and so smooth even though it's the same paint on the whole model range, just looking at that makes you go "ooh" heck even my titanium silver feels thick and smooth. The interior on that blue one though is win, the NAV just completes it nicely.

I want a new shape 3 series as my next car but if I came across a 330ci (coupe or soft top) that had been well looked after with low miles and NAV then I'd take it!

Is it possible that the seats are slightly different in facelift to pre-facelift cars?

no, but it would probably put me off the car unless it was something amazing.
why would you put your kid in the ad? does he come with the car?

almost as bad as having some slutty gf sprawled over the bonnet, which i've seen far too often

Agreed. Im not overly interested in the car as im looking for a 330 but to me that shows a lack of respect for the car. I now invisage going to see the car and being greated by chocolate stains on the door cards and knackered seat backs from feet on them.

You honestly think he will damage the car? Funnily enough kids don't have many sharp edges.

See above reply really. The kid may have buttons on the back of his jeans though which could scratch or damage the car. Regardless i just think its a stupid thing to do especially on a car ad. If the owner has such levels of stupidity to sit his child on the roof i do have doubts about the rest of the car.
