Hey Guys,

Just wondering whether the 530 51/02 plate is a good car? Drive well, handle ok etc. Also what's better the Diesel or Petrol?

Anyone had it for a first car? Is the insurance insane?

I expect Fox to be along to fill me on the 530..

Thanks,

Matt.

Just remember this.

OMG RWD POWAR = INSTANT DEATH!!!!

I would hide it i was you :)

Plus im guewsing you're from the UK and in that case you will get rapped more then a nerd in jail when it comes to insurance :(

With respect, it's an utterly ridiculous first car - it costs a fortune to run, and isn't really ideally suited to a new driver. You don't need something like this as a first car - get something else, get some experience, then get one.

It is also Group 17 insurance.

If you are intent on a large car as your first, I'd be tempted to look at something a little cheaper and less powerful (like a Mondeo, an early mk3 2.0 example should be easy to find and have plenty of kit and still be a fantastic first car) and get maybe 20k miles under your belt and then look at changing to something more powerful and RWD later on.

I wouldn't suggest it for a 1st car, it's all too easy to put it into a ditch/hedge/tree ;)

Heh heh,
IMO all this OMG REAR DRIVE DEATH!!!1 is a load of tosh.
As long as you drive sensibly and not have the throttle as an on/off switch, you'll be fine.
Also, yes, insurance will be rapage unless you have a fronted policy (not good) or a fleet/trade policy.

TBH, i doubt you will even get insured on a regular policy @17.
Nah, you'll be able to find an insurance company that will cover you.

Granted you'll pay through the nose, but you will find a company who will cover you, the same for any other car. Just remember - no car is un-insurable

must cost £3,4,5k surely?

No car is uninsurable, I used to work with a 18 year girl who drove her dads M5 and her mums M3 must have been expensive though, she didn't drive them slow either.

Although just because he is just learning to drive doesn't make him 17, I know a guy who didn't take the test until he was 29 and got cover on a 225 TT for under 1k in his first year of driving.

It's amazing the influence this forum has on its readers.

Must resist temptation... say no to the 5!
