BMW drivers

dude, it was a joke

i don't label people according to what they drive, and neither should anyone else.
the stigma arose due to junior exec prats driving e46s, and jealousy probably

you're very odd

Bimmers, Audi's and Scoobs...this thread has really upset me. Seriously, I'm crying here guys.

Can somebody please recommend a safe marque that will keep the horrible intarweb people away?

Odd how? for having an opinion against yours and showing the flaws of your points.

Also jealous?

The term 'get a clue' comes to mind

so you're saying that jealousy played absolutely no part in the stigma which arose?
i believe it did, along with envy

there is a psychological element to it you know, along with the attitude of a minority of BMW drivers

A lot of it has to do with the yuppy culture of the 80's as well which is where Porsche's stigma comes from - wealthy cityboys with huge bonus's whilst everyone else was standing outside Longbridge in jackets, pointing at things.

Then why did the stigma not arise to other prestige marques, Merc's Audi's and the like.

i swear we've already been through this.

the bmw e46 outsold the A4 and C class.
this means that
1) more were bought, which meant the likelyhood of ****s buying them increased.
2) there were more on the roads, hence an increased likelyhood of you seeing a **** in a bmw

i suppose this also applies to the 5, as the E39 wiped the floor with the audi A6 and E class taxi

audis were generally bought by old people anyway :p
as fox has said, many times, jr execs just went "320d m sport" without even considering the opposition

tom - why do you think this stigma came about?

To be fair, the BMW brand attracts idiots more than other brand.

A trip to any retail park late at night proves this theory wrong. ;)

Micras generally hold up HGV's never mind X5's.

Tbh, the car matters not a jot, some of the worst driving I've seen recently was somebody in an 07 plate 911 Turbo (No, it was not Spie!) ;)
