Hi guys,

My old man is having some problems with his exhaust. BMW has quoted him £600 for a new exhaust

Ok, i'm not going to lie... I don't know a great deal about exhaust systems but he basically doesn't need the back box. He needs everything but...so the cat etc.

Any suggestions? It doesn't really have to be a genuine part but nothing stupid.

It's a 318i (I always thought it was a 320 nevermind) so the 1.9 engine 2001 e46.

sounds like a ripoff to me. I don't know what they charge in this country but back in the states I got custom piping welded from the header to the muffler for 120 usd...and I seem to recall the option of stainless steel being 200 usd total.

The fact that it's a BMW should not affect the cost because it's just piping....

So...600 quid seems like a total ripoff. I don't know if you'll find it as cheap as I did but I guarantee you 600 quid is far more than you should be paying

about 190 quid from viking although you would need to fit yourself or get someone to do it :)

is there magnaflow/carsound here? Because I had a 2.25'' magnaflow high flow cat that only cost me 50 usd and it was quite good. Also passed the California Smog Test which is the most strict in all 50 states
