Here's a couple of pictures of my retro fit sat nav,Originally it had the little storage compartment box which was pretty much useless, so after a trip to my local cooper garage, I ordered the BMW nav tray and replaced the useless storage box. The sat nav is a navman mio 735 which fills the tray and dash lovely making unknown journeys a pleasure... the nav turns a nice darkish blue for night time driving which is really easy on the eyes and other drivers, whilst also having a digital free view tv receiver built in for those boring times you're stuck at a supermarket, P.s the cable in the first picture is the external aerial for better tv reception, the actual sat nav is hard wired in :)

Your
 in them.

Retrofit nav?

Looks like a portable stuck on the dash to me?

A retrofit is fitting a factory option to the car once it has left the factory. If you had retrofitted navigation to this car you'd have retrofitted the iDrive based nav system.

Sticking a portable unit in the storage compartment is not a retrofit :(

It looks ok but at least try to hide the wires, nothing worse with tat on the dash and wires everywhere.

True fox, couldn't think of another word to fit, I agree about wires, that's why there is no wires. The external aerial wire, well I'm not gonna hide that, as you only need it for countryside areas as the reception is great, had the sat nav for a while so the only expense was the £19 tray.

^^ this
Looks crap. Hide the wires.

Better than having a sat nav plonked on your windscreen with a crapload of wires anyway, it's exactly the same style as BMWs own portable sat nav seen on their website.

Not something I would like in mine but it is no where as bad as some other mods I have seen.

I assume it does fold away, how clean does it look down? Also, is there no way you can hard wire the TV aerial and have it even slightly hidden away?

see if you can drill some holes in the storage compartment box and the dash to hide the wires

Will look tons better with the wires hidden.

the only wire on show is the aerial for the TV (picture 1), the sat nav wire itself is hard wired in so isn't visible (picture 2 is how it always looks) I was going to try hide the aerial wire too, but thought for the amount of times I'd use the TV, its not worth it. I cant afford the OEM sat nav at the moment, so for £19, I'm happy with how it came out :)

Sorry for the use of 'retrofit'.
