Another vote for Settlers of Catan and Munchkin.

Ticket to Ride is also worth checking out. For pure silliness, I recommend Monty Python Fluxx.

Yeah, it's good fun. The USA 1910 expansion is worth getting too.

And there's a version on Xbox Live Arcade if you've got no friends.

If you're up for some mind bending games, try Nomic. Like Fluxx, just without the cards.

Or for something quick, a good game of Mornington Crescent.
