Play boat for anyone that knows anything about kayaking. Basically means you can throw it about in waves and do cartwheels etc. Look it up on youtube!

trescodrucey> How mush did that set you back?

Ive always been meaning to look into buying a boat but have not managed to get round to it. What kind of storage charges do you need to pay when its not in use or do you keep it at your own place? Btw, how old are you?

The boat cost me £2500
was in a bit of a mess, plus it was 4 different shades of brown
i spent a few month's worth of weekends working on it, repainting, replacing doors, inside cupboards, simple electrics etc, had great fun doing it

I'm 24, and live in the Isles of Scilly - as the island is private, the guv provides free moorings for all residents, so it's in the water between early march and late october. During winter, we have a boat yard and i put it up on its trailer and drive it into the yard - no cover over the winter, so needs a clean in the spring

Best thing i've ever bought, absolutely love it, perfect size for my first boat, makes travelling between islands nice and nippy, fast and powerful enough for all water sports, great size for fishing and taking people to islands etc

Thats great, well done. Looks great too.

Do you ever use it to travel to the mainland?

No, always been a bit scared about that one - the engine's a few years old and don't have an aux on it, plus it would use a huge amount of fuel!

I don't but my brother owns both a 'house' boat and fishing boat, one is a Warrior 175 with a 115hp 4 stroke and a much older, steel hulled boat measuring about 37' (no idea of the model).

Have a quicksilver 2.7 m inflatable rib with 6hp ,nice for seal spotting and exploring caves and the coastline ,have been considering getting a real boat for ages .
Have access to two 6m diving ribs with 100hp engines .

absolutely brilliant, i'd love to live on one of those things!

rivers and canals?

Its not really got the power for rivers, although I've had it on the non tidal avon. At some point I'll take it down the river ribble I think. have a bit of an adventure on the rest of the system. At the moment I'm constrained to the Lancaster canal really. But it is a very nice bit of canal.

Its quite nice to live on although its fairly cold at this time of year. Goodness me its kept me busy though, there's always something that needs fixing and lots of storage to build. There's 2 of us on that boat now and there's not really enough space just yet.

I'm dreaming about a sea going motor boat next, a fairly big one. I'm not brave enough to sail my house and everything I own just yet.

You in Bath? I think behind the boat is where the orthodontist surgery is :D
That's actually one of the photos from the advert I bought it from. Its almost certainly in Bath though so you are probably right. I can't take the credit for that slightly interesting mooring technique (take a look at the centre line).

we're had literally hundreds of boats over the years, sadly thanks to god awful weather over here we got rid of them cause we never used them

I don't own a boat, but I've always wanted one, however not sure if I want a yacht or a motorboat.

My uncles owns a 42' yacht in Devon. Had a sail on it the other week and was awesome.

Didn't Malc30 recently acquire a blue 30ft (ish) cruiser?

Personally I'd love to own an ocean going boat of some description, even if I only use it for the odd fishing trip. Sadly though, living in Stoke-on-Trent negates the possibility.

Have you read 'Narrow Dog to Carcassone'? If not you should;)

People keep telling me to. I get the impression they would like me to sink my boat. This makes me angry!

I dread to think what would happen at sea with mine. Its only got a 1.5l 35hp diesel engine, I think I'd just get washed up again!
