Body guard

I trained as a close protection officer many years ago when I was 20. Took me 6 years to get employment. I worked for a large international company. It was real hard to get in started off doing boring standard Vip jobs at first then moved up. Tough these days to get into but if you really want it like I did then keep at it. lucky break is what you will need. I am not ex army or police so can be done.

Haha I like it. No guns or excitement like that :) it can be a very boring job to be honest but looking back I miss the guys I worked with.
 
A friend of mine is starting a job in close protection this week in iraq. He is ex army and had served in both iraq and afghanistan. He had to travel to the czech republic for a few of the training classes.
 
The trick is to just shoot anyone that looks shifty. ANYONE. It's called recon by fire. A little trade secret for you.
 
Don't forget to wear sunglasses at ALL times. And wear a bluetooth headset - but leave the recharging cable attached to it, so you can make out it's connected to a radio. And talk to your sleeve a lot, using words like "Alpha-Foxtrot" "confirmed/affirmative" and "package"...

Doing both of these things has worked for the people I know in the security industry, although you have to be smart and not just a meat head, because the three people I know who did it who were dumb, are now just doormen. The smart ones are either pro MMA fighters/coaches as well or are now currently on a giant yacht with a very wealthy person.
 
Aren't most serious body guards ex-police/army?

You need some serious experience before you will get anywhere near being an actual "body guard".

Obvious route would be join military police: RMP, RAF Police etc... serve for a bit... apply for CP course. Do a fairly chilled tour where you drive a general about in a merc G wagon... ponce about in camp a lot sporting some H&K variant... leave military and do lucrative civilian CP work.

Right time to do this would have been about 10 years ago... With withdrawal from Afghanistan imminent I'd assume there would be a lot of guys coming back to the UK competing for work... If you've got ex diplomatic protection group guys, ex RMP, ex SF types etc... doing this sort of work then I really don't see the average fat civvi who's been to the gym and passed his bodyguard course he found on t'interweb having much chance of competing... I'm sure some do though. Would assume it would be better to at least have some military or police experience even if not in an actual CP role before attempting this. Guy I know who did a proper course while serving is currently on a rather large rate in Afghan... I really can't see the average bouncer type being able to do much more than some low end sit out side some blokes hotel room type job...

Searched autotrader... nearest one is 500 miles away, $130,000 USED :( 12 MPG city lol.

I could buy a Land Cruiser AND a Range Rover for that.
