Saxo + Bodykit =

Nah. My car is a 2002 Saxo VTR, but the factory-fitted VTR/S bodykit is starting to separate from the car :(. I know the original owner had the bodykit stolen and then replaced under insurance (chavs stealing it for their 1.0 Saxo is dead common), so perhaps the replacement wasn't put back on properly?

It's only really the front arches and door panels that are an issue. They're clipped on-top of the rest of the car, but are now starting to peel away. No doubt the fact that when I take it on the motorway it's doing 3800RPM at 70 and shaking itself to death isn't helping, and also attacking it with the pressure washer! :p Linky is an example of the door panel that clips onto the main door bodywork.

My current idea is, where the clips aren't working, to carefully prise the panels away from the main bodywork (but leaving it attached where the clips are working) and pump it full of glue and the G-Clamp it overnight. That sound like a good idea?

Someone's told me to use Tiger Seal.... whatever that may be! I guess it's like No More Nails et al? Anyone got any comments on them? Are they much of a muchness or is one adhesive better than all the rest?

The main thing to note is that the panels do not need to ever come off, and as such I don't care if the glue makes the main panels underneath a complete mess!

Yes of course bodging it up with tiger seal is preferable to purchasing the correct clips and reattaching it properly..

the correct clips are generally not all that expensive. They are expensive for what they are, but £10 at the most should replace any broken clips.

Use original clips with a blob of silkaflex on each one. Glueing the whole panels makes them very hard to get off if you ever need to remove them.

Also 3800rpm at 70 on a vtr? Which gearbox do you have on it, a VTR box is 3k at 70 and VTS is around 3.5k, s1 rallye is 4k and is known for its very short gearing to make the most of the revvy little 1.3.

A couple of my VT arches are gaping, even after replacing all the clips.

Just need to buy/ borrow/ steal a few 'body panel friendly' G clamps if they exist?

Just use normal ones but wrap the ends that come in contact with paint in a cloth, towel etc

Tiger Seal is fantastic, I even used it to stick our huge stainless steel sink back on to our granite worktop.

Problem is it hardens in the tube after a few weeks, so don't open it until you need to use it.
