Like I said over msn dude, I cannot fault it. I think it would be a brilliant opening picture for your website/portfolio :)

EDIT: Oh and tell Sarah I can now sympathies with the gold paint! :p

good call A.N. Other im guessing her eyes are agitated by the bodypaint! I somehow had missed that.

Nothing i can show at the moment syke, but thanks :)

the painters were female, and please, no childish comments guys, we're discussing the photography etc here not going back to highschool and making derogatory comments

Not to keen on the the paint work at all, and the shots are to dark, i can see what your going for but it doesn't work.

No offence.

Personally I think number 1 is the only good one for say your portfolio. Simply because there's either parts "unpainted" in 2 (between her right thigh and banding), 3 (her back before the banding) and 5, her palm of her hands. If it's going to be body paint shots, it has got to be fully painted.

Number 4 may work but that dark shadow / dark space between her front and her back puts me off.

However, saying that - this is quite an impressive attempt - it's not just about the photography but also about the artwork on the model's body.

And nice one Dogoid, if you want to pass on such pointless comment, go to 4Chan.

really interesting concept though tom. The lighting on the first shot is definitely my favourite and it's the photo that I like the most. I would attempt to smooth the paint on the right side of her face though as there is skin showing through.

The others unfortunately suffer because of the gaps in the paint, but the second to last shot is really nicely lit, seems like it was taken at the same time as the first?

I would consider using a snooted strobe from behind to try and add some highlights to the hair so that her head doesn't fade into the background so quickly.

Love to see you experimenting all the time though :)

The first is really the highlight for me, great use of light and amazing textures, the last shot seems to have inconsistent blacks around the body...

Im suprised youve not chosen more of the photos of Sarahs back, as the Eye really has great detail and from the other shots ive seen really shows off the painters ability... As others have said the missed areas are all that lets down these shots, the palms etc... Youve camera work is spot on as usually.

From the same set, Ive seen your Goddess photo(composite) in your gallery and the blacks on that photo really do need some work, there are quite clear photoshop outlines where youve cut her out and pasted her back in. (seems youve removed that photo anyway.. so ignore me :) )

Great work Tom. :)

Thanks for the critique :) Out of interest where do you mean by the gaps? Just trying to figure it out! There is some gold almost skin coloured paint used in the places you've pointed out, the only really obvious gaps i can see are where the underwear has shifted slightly, is that what you mean? And obviously the palms :)

Darryn, yea some of these shots i edited with a badly uncalibrated monitor, half way through i got a spyder 2 to work with and it improved things a lot....i thought id gone back through them all and sorted the blacks but i may have missed one or 2, the godess one was pre-calibration so you can see far out it was :p

Title changed.

What he said, except I've got the "Ban/Suspend [username]" link...

I like them, i've come back for a 3rd/4th look so :p

I think you've done quite well using the lights and exposure, I also think you've processed the shots well.

thanks for the clean up tolien :)

Cheers for the comments VSpec

I'm just thinking, .one is your monitor possibly quite far out of calibration? On all 4 of the properly calibrated monitors i've looked at the images on they're actually quite vivid, not dark at all bar the obvious black background and the shadow area on the high contrast lighting shots...no one else seems to have mentioned it either?

Tom.

The second shot, look at that tiny gap between her right (the image's left) leg and her underwear. You see that unpainted area? I can see it - not that I was staring at that area specifically but it stood out for me :p

I like number 1 and 2.
Number 1 because it looks like its a candidate photograph for promoting what the artist offers with his final product on show on a happyily expressed model (Sarah)
It also carrys all the ticked boxes for a good photograph. Composure, dof, saturation, exposure and use of light.

Number 2 I really like because I find it a really well composed photograph on both your and your models part. The legs and arms just seem to be in the perfect stance and you've framed it well to really show off the painters art on the human body.
