Boiler/Cylinder/Filter Question

LOL. My experience with Atag boilers has been terrible. Totally over complicated for the task at hand, poorly designed and built, with poor quality materials. Spare parts are a nightmare to get hold of also! Oh and good luck trying to control the thing with no literature..They just use letters and numbers to display options and settings with no sense to what is going on. Just recently we had two (2 x 38kw) to repair in a large property. Flue connection leaking, alloy sump rotted through (which took 5 weeks to arrive!), pump speed recognition failure, and other issues etc.. They were only a few years old, maintained regularly and installed correctly on a clean system. Wouldn't touch them with a barge pole.

And gotta say re Vogue boilers, good luck! Especially with Ideals previous track record.
Funnily enough everyone said the same thing when the Logics were released: Ideal designing a great boiler and learned from the mistakes of the past (isar/icos)...yeah right! So excuse me if I say the Vogue will only prove its any where near the standard of what other manufacturers have been doing for years after its been on the market for 10 years and Ideal can show they are capable of manufacturing something reliable. Owning one currently is just a gamble. Its just a case that they are new and haven't had time to break down yet :p

Only my opinion from 20+ years of fixing boilers, and everyone is entitled to theirs. :)

nothing wrong with using a combi in an s plan system to heat the cylinder

the HW drawoff on the combi can then be utilised for a HW outlet on its own
Ee gads man - this is one problem with the internet, too much advice :p.

No i really do appreciate the input, I will speak to the plumber about it and ask him why he specced a combi instead of a system and see what he says.
