Boiler not firing up…

when it says max youve put the boiler into service mode.

the fact it will fire up and give heat shows the problem is your external control is it giving hot water?

hot water
I don’t know but how relevant is it?

i was able to turn the immersion on for rhe water

Ok ftw
I beleive the hot water is actually workin ok as the boiler is firing up for the hot water
Np

only the heating does not work so far. So heatin is the problem that must mean the boiler is fine

Could be the pump as above
Is that
Going to be expensive?

i went outside and it looks ok? I mean how do i know if its even frozen lol
dark out there man
condenser pipe underneath the boiler you can literally pull off and empty any water build up in the boiler. Then insulate the pipe stop it freezing

I spent a lot of my morning reading through the manual for my boiler and ruddy hell wow

complex, there is a reason a good plumber needs to be on the gas safe register list! Totally in awe of their skills!

File this under clutching at straws already clutched, but I had a similar puzzling issue with a nearly new boiler after I accidentally caught the receiver for the thermostat, next to the boiler in the garage. The cover was nearly perfectly in position and didn't looked to have moved, but had contacts on the lid, which was slightly loose. Pressed it firmly home, problem went away.

Good luck getting a solution before festive triple time kicks in. :-)

Thanks not been easy, especially my usual plumber is now isloting due to covid.

Good news I got hot water and can temporarily get the heating to work for 60-75 minutes

Which WB boiler do you have?

greenstar 24i

so plumber came out
Said nothing is wrong with the boiler.

said its due to no signal getting sent to the boiler to turn it on
Electrical fault somewhere…

first he said its the control unit but further along found that there is an electrical fault in the wiring and also there was some of the wires not earthed properly smh.

basically there is a good chance that the wire one of them under the floor has been damaged

U guys ever heard of rice and rats chewing through cables? Is it quite common?

got me up and running temporarily though
Guess be ok for now

kinda worried about all of my rj45 cables now….

Yeah we've had customers with rodents eating through cables and pipes before now.

Did your 'plumber' check the switch live from each motorised valve? It's way more common to have a faulty microswitch in the valve head than a rodent problem, unless there is evidence to support the presence of vermin.

I did say there was nothing wrong with your boiler and if its a nest id rip it out and fit something else seen far too many receivers go faulty and less than 12 months old

i will check with him on that thanks

i think he was looking at just the one valve
As he took the cover off
But not the 2nd valve

but there is not a problem with the nest itself? Its not that bad u know

Without telling someone their job, he needs to check each orange wire in turn and then the switch live at the boiler, to determine where the break in the chain is.

Lets seee what happens
Worse case new wire
Hate that though grrrrr
