Boiler - Repair or New?

Ok. I thought you wanted help. The_One clearly knows a lot more about boiler repairs than anyone else - so perhaps following his advise is best.

I'm just citing my own experience with Worcester boilers and fixed price repairs. They replaced my heat exchanger and during the process the boiler was in pieces. They were working on it for over an hour and it was fully calibrated afterwards. They state quite clearly under what grounds it would cost more than £275. Awkward placement doesn't appear to be among them.

Out of interest, when you got gas man round ask em which boiler they recommend where vessel can be replaced without having to take boiler off wall. Seems like wb moved to a bad design.

I got a bosch where vessel can be changed without boiler off wall, is from 2003.

Parents got a Bosch where gas man fitted an external vessel as part of the install which I though was really clever thinking. That was around 2010.

Nothing wrong with the design if the boiler is fitted to close to something above it then there physically isn't space to remove it. If the boiler is fitted in a normal way then you just slide flue out a little way and the vessel slides up the back of the boiler
