Boiling an egg at work

The way i once boiled an egg for lunch is as follows:

1.Boil the kettle before going to work.
2.Whip out that old flask.
3.Fill with boiling water.
4.Pop a couple of eggs in the flask.
5.Nip to work.
6.Scarn the eggs after about an hour or two
7.nom nom nom

You don't need to keep turning the kettle back on.
Delia Smith's method for boiled eggs is to put them in boiling them for 1 minute and then turn the heat off and leave them in the hot water for another 6 minutes.
That does good eggs, but leave in for longer if you want them harder.

The only problem I can see is if the egg cracks, and leaves eggy mess in the kettle.

Pierce the air sack with a pin and they don't break.

The pressure increase within the shell as they heat causes them to crack

Never put eggs in a deep fat fryer..... I nipped out for a fag at work the other day and returned to find the remains of an exploded egg in my chip fryer.. And the Pub owner stood there giggling like a school girl.

He seems to be getting very bored at work lately, have returned to find a variety of items cooking away on my overhead grill or chargrill. Think the best one was this!

He had taken the time to make a small pirate ship out of half a jacket potato, using cocktail sticks for masts and pasta for cannons, Not sure what the gherkin was for...[/QUOTE]

Lol, class! The gherkin was obviously meant to be the yard.

Either microwave the egg (don't forget to pierce the yolk!).
Or, as said before, the Delia method - pour boiling water into container + egg, leaving it in the residual heat.

You will just have to keep turning the kettle back on as soon as it turns off at boiling point.

I've a feeling most kettles don't turn themselves off if the lid is off, or at least I think the one I had didn't, so that's a possible solution. But I don't have a kettle now with which to test that.

Have fun in your office kitchen/sauna.

Boss: "What the hell are you doing?"
You: "Boiling an egg."
Boss: "WTF fired."
