Hi all.

I have a client of mine and he wants the BlackBerry 9900. I know these are now outdated devices but he prefers the keyboard (and he is in his 50's and is an immigration lawyer.) He does not like the Q10. there are numerous problems with it with data sync issues but also for the visually imparied as he is, there is no way of making the HTML email bigger like the 9900.

Email/data is all he needs.

he has had a lot of issues with EE/T-Mobile with data outages and is very frustrated with them.
he also travels abroad 6 months of the year - mainly to Japan and the US. he wants to find a tariff where the data roaming charges are not too high.

Vodafone was almost there today but when we read about the data charges, they were too much. Sure, great in Europe but internationally overseas - not so much.

O2 were the same.

Three had a good offer but they dont do international.

Any other ideas? We can buy the handset sim free no problem, if it comes to it, but the actual tariffs are very frustrating and tough to find that is international friendly.

what are your thoughts? I said to him the best option maybe to just buy the sim free device and then pop in the 3 sim card in the UK for use here then when abroad use their simcard. but it is still a hassle and no guarentee that the simcard abroad would work with the phone or if they provide blackberry services.

thoughts?

Why doesnt he just connect to wifi out there, thats what i normally do when i travel abroad with my Blackberry or if i need access outside a wifi zone, i just get a PAYG sim from one of the local networks out there.

Not sure on the international prices, but Virgin are doing a 30 day rolling sim, Unlimited mins, Unlimited texts, Unlimited Data (3.5GB FUP) & Unlimited Blackberry services for £15 per month, excellent deal if you ask me :)

ee do a roaming tarif with no roaming charges the following countries:

On this plan, your inclusive allowances are for making and receiving calls and texts to and from mobiles and landlines in Europe and selected countries as follows: Armenia, Australia, Austria, Azores (Portugal), Belgium, Bulgaria, Canary Islands, China, Columbia, Croatia, Cyprus (excluding North Cyprus), Czech Republic, Denmark, Ecuador, Estonia, Finland, France, French Guiana, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Guadeloupe, Guernsey, Hungary, Iceland, India, Ireland, Isle of Man, Israel, Italy, Jersey, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Madeira, Malta, Martinique, Mexico, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Reunion Islands, Romania, Russia, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, USA and Vatican. the client/customer wants to move away from EE due to poor service and BlackBerry services always being down for him.
Vodafone was almost good except the charges were too high for him. thing is, he doesnt realise there isnt a one solution for all. he is out of the country 6 months of the year but must always have emails on the phone....at a low cost!
