Hi guys,

Hoping someone here can help or advise.

I have recently replaced the Diverter Valve and Flow sensor on our Boiler.

Vaillant Ecotec Plus 831

...Noticed that there was water residue from around back of the water pump (Pics below)

So my question is ...how bad is this? Should I leave it? or should I get the pump changed ASAP?

Thanks

Isn't that the air release valve for trapped air? if so looks automatic and my automatic valve looks as gunked up as that albeit mines seperate from the boiler

Yeah as macca said its the auto air vent which is built into the same replaceable "part" as the pump.

Looks alright as it is, just keep an eye on it, if you get small puddles in the casing or the surface below its worth replacing as it'll be letting by. If it stays like that I'd just clean it up a bit and leave it.

As said above its the auto air vent, aav. And I'm pretty certain you can buy it on its own. If it's leaked it's best practice to get it swapped. Shouldn't be expensive.

Thanks guys.

It looks like the part is just £12 (ish) so I might just change it.

Would I need to drain the boiler? or could I just isolate the boiler and change it?

Thanks

Both, iso valves are under the boiler to isolate the water from the boiler! The drain valves are under there too. To empty the boiler. Make sure you turn the power off first.

But do I actually have to drain the boiler to change this part?

As I never had to drain to change the 'Flow Sensor'.?

Thanks

Yes, it's a hydraulic component. And you have to vent the boiler properly (if required) once you've done, before turning it back on.
