Hi all.
I have bought a Sanus Viewpoint TV bracket from Screwfix.

It comes with two types of mounting methods:
1) Screw into 2"x4" joists (included plastic plugs not needed)
2) Screw directly into concrete (included plastic plugs needed)

Given that my new build has Thermalite blocks with an air gap before the plasterboard, neither of the above are suitable. As I have photos of the house before plastering, I think that the Thermalite blocks start 25-30mm behind the surface of the plasterboard.

I am thinking just buying some form of ~80mm long expandable bolts. If I buy wall anchors that expand in the middle then I must be confident that the centre of the bolt is deep within the Thermalite blocks.
What wall plugs do fellow DIYers recommend? I'm a firm believer that going overkill on wall fixings is the wise and wish to buy tomorrow in-store.

I use Rigifix, although plenty will also recommend Dryline Pro. Both options are far easier then expanding bolts and very strong.

Each Rigifix M6 fixing is rated to 140Kg, I usually use 4-6 of them for TV brackets which is probably complete overkill. Just make sure you also have a suitable 12mm drill bit.

Thanks for the reply! These are exactly what I need. You've also reminded me to change my location from Stoke to Derby!

I have a few longer drill bits but they're probably masonry ones. Will dig through the removal boxes in the garage.

Rigifix are good but the screws that come with them heads are too narrow for most brackets.

I swapped them for M6x20 pan head screws (as used for rack mounting IT kit) with a washer.

I had to buy a box of 25 as the smaller packs were out of stock. Then the drill chuck broke so I had to buy a new drill.
Anyway the TV is mounted and looks good. They really are easy to use fixings and very suitable for the walls in new builds. Thanks Abyss!
You're right blueboy2001 the M6 bolts where a touch too small for the bracket so used some M6 washers to solve the issue.

I bought the same brand TV bracket from screwfix. The lower load stand for a 32" TV and used 2x Rigifix M6. Works fine. Plasterboard, small gap then breeze block

No problem, glad you got it sorted.

I was just about to say won't 20mm be too short, then i googled rigifix:rolleyes:. Didn't realise they had a sleeve inside.:p. For mine i just used some M8 x 60 frame fixings.
