Bonsai trees, who has one?

nope i misted it every so often and i bought proper bonsia feed but i never got around to using the feed cause they died befor your supposed to use it.I bough loads of books about them and read loads on internet about them and i just could not keep mine alive. After around 3 weeks of having it the leaves all fell off,and i was just left with a stick.I kept buying them thinking next time i will keep it longer but nope dead.

I read up on it briefly but there were so many things to leanr about and that was just the way you cut it?

Doesn anyone have a basic guide to start a begginer off including picking a right one as I read you should really buy them from a tree nursery?

Sounds like what i did with my first tree, i bought a book, some clippers, read about it on the net, even bonsai feeds. The leaves didn't so much fall off, but it did developed some mould at the roots.

This time i didn't buy any books (lost that one and the clippers too), and feed it with miracle grow :D It's looking healthy so far.

I lost virtually my whole collection many years ago when a hard frost killed them. Amongst the ones that died was a fantastic silver birch I'd grown from a seed through a layer of old leaves to curve its stem "naturally". I gave them up after that.

any interesting websites/books/words of wisdom for someone who is thinking of doing the same?

other than "Don't"

I had 2 or 3 as a kid. They all died. One I pruned to death and another I gave to someone to look after while I went on holiday, they didnt look after it :(

This is a better picture of what it looks like, very good for £5 i think.

Anyone know what tree it is? The lable didn't say, or if it did i thrown it away long ago. I wanna know so i can find out how often i need to prune the roots.

Looks a lot like a Serissa Foetida to me (though my spelling is awful so might have misspelt that!). If I'm right the roots will be stinky if you cut them (hence foetida - like fetid).

i bought an 'outdoor' one about 6 weeks ago, watered daily, fed proper bonsai feed as required, it died within about 3 weeks :(

I really like them but Kate thinks they're gay. They give you an aura of oriental wisdom, sort of a Mr Miaggi thing going on.
