Booking tickets for F1 Spa 2014 - advice please?

What a bloody brilliant weekend! With 8 lads in a motorhome it was pretty manic and very little sleep was had but the experience of spa was great. Highlights were getting there on Sunday at 7 am and perching on bus stop chicane amongst the trees, best spot all weekend. Walking the whole track a couple times very drunk for practice and qually (it's feels so far up those hills in the rain). Enticing our neighbours on the camp site into playing beer pong

Belated yes, Lol. We were surprised to find a free shuttle service running from our camp site right to the track.

I had a great weekend too, already planning next year ( bigger better tent required with heater lol)

How mad was the weather at spa ? hot, cold, windy, rain, hot, windy, cold, rain, hail. The weather before quali was just unreal.

Any pictures?

My weekend was awesome..weather was mad on Saturday as described. Race day, found a good spot on the edge of the trees/hillside by the last corner, saw a few overtakes, lots of close action, and saw everything else on the screen. Fortunate to get this spot though, the people behind us were sat there from 7:05 to get that spot and were camping, we rocked up at 09:30 fresh from the hotel and probably had a better view! :p

was an awesome weekend for us to. Proper nice 7 bed pad, right opposite the casino in spa. taxis in each day!! Plenty of beer and great spots every day in different areas :) Cant wait to go again

Only on my phone, I'm awaiting photos form my mate off his SLR. We sat at Kemmel for practice, Pouhon for Qualy and Chicane for the Race. Chicane is definitely the best spot, it has everything; the back of the grid, giant tv, view of the podium, pit entrance and of course the overtaking/collisions on the chicane.

View up the hill on Chicane. I'm sure we got on Sky Sports sat here.

Insane weather! We got caught out at qualy and drenched in that down pour of hail and rain. Cold and wet for the rest of the day then :(

This sounds like the way to do it. Could you tell me, where did you book, who with and how much? Also, did you have to pay extra for your lifts to the track? How much if so? Cheers

Some more photos taken with the SLR from our view. We were screaming at Lotterer to shift :D

Captain Planet, for the race I would have been sat about 25 yards to the left of where you were sitting, based upon the pics you've posted above :p

Behind the kiosks, or the other way? :D that's great. We were sat with a couple who had a Belgian, Union Jack and Hamilton flag.

The commentators and the TV cameras missed Lotterer almost blocking the pits, everyone went mad around us then. Rosbergs big lock up got our attention too sat here.

We were sat closer to the chicane turn in point from you...this was my view. Grandstands didn't actually obscure that much, we could see the whole breaking zone apart from that and could look up to the exit of Blanchimont, and see the downhill turn in to Pouhon and the Kemmel straight in the distance. Only took a camera phone with me (fail) so excuse the relatively amateur picture :p.

We arrived at 9:30 and scrambled up the bank, sat on the ground with our legs danging over and bags hanging off tree roots, somehow it was still not taken that spot. Not comfortable but as a spot to watch from it was pretty decent for a GA ticket. There was a bunch of English folk behind us, they'd been in the spot since 7:05 and our view was better, they were set too far back into the trees.

Argh Captain Planet! I hate it when people sit there on the slope. Its the only way up without having to climb the banks.

Also, those kiosks are new, they weren't there last year and look to be right in the way. Did you get the morons trying to drive quad bikes and vans through the crowds?

Will, that's a good turn up considering you arrived so late then we'll done!

Skeeter, we thought we were probably right in the way but so many spaces were already taken we had to make the decision that all 8 of us must suck it up and block the way. We convinced ourselves we weren't to be too hated as it appeared that so many people were pitched up on the concrete path anyway. And yes lots of quads came through those people, we were glad to be up on the slope. Everyone used my chair for support to stop them sliding down the mud, so swings and roundabouts I guess :p

My family were planning on going to the Bus Stop, but my dads arm was in a sling and they decided the banks were too risky, so they went to Pouhon instead.

I've sat at Bus Stop a few times and its a great spot. However, I think the best spot is the one place you can't view from, the outside of the Le Combes chicane. Such a shame they blocked off the bridge over Kemmel too, as walking from Kemmel to Pouhon is a mission.

Grr, I so wish I'd gone!

Yep mega mission. We did the trek right round the track twice. In the torrential rain and wind, those hills are fun. The effort for me was compounded though when on the first day I had quite a few beers and the sole on my shoe had fell off :D

That was where I'd hoped to go, best overtaking spot really, but when getting there I saw it wasn't going to be much good.

I am surprised they haven't made more of the natural spectator spots, that they leave the banking from no name corner around Pouhon/Double Gauche (whatever they are calling it this week) as steep, muddy grass banks, rather than putting in some concrete steps/terraces seems mad to me. Saw so many people nearly sliding over on the banks on Saturday.

The morons on quad bikes and golf carts were annoying, I don't know why the organiser lets them do that, I saw people getting splashed with mud and nearly run over a few times. The paths are simply too crowded. I have no idea who those people were either.

EDIT: Took this pic, gotta love the commitment of some fans, there were about 8 guys dressed up like this, Perez fans I guess!

We talk about the banks every time we are there, but then when you think about it, they are only used one weekend a year, for the F1. No other even at Spa is big enough to fill more than just the top of the Pouhon bank. Theres no point spending the money making it spectator friendly to just get used 3 days a year. Same goes for the bank at the Bus Stop.

My sister said they were sat next to the green Mexicans! :)
