Looking at the early reveals for the RTX3080 it seems the stock boost clock is 1710 MHz with the more expensive overclocked cards going up to 1755MHz.
Is this really enough to make a noticable difference in performance is it going to be worth paying anything up to £150 more ?

Nope, it won't help very much. Look up the TFlops for different RTX 3080s, that will give you some idea of the performance difference.

Maybe just wait for higher end versions to be released, if you think you will benefit from the extra performance.

Lots of the usual higher clocker brands/models are all TBC. Expect to see nearer 2000 boost clocks I reckon, in that case its possible worth £100 more.

However I bet the FE will boost more than the stock figures.

Obviously boost clocks are a consideration but also how well the AIB cooling does, the warranty, looks, customer service/RMA process.

I'd imagine that comes down to your own personal price sensitivity and affordability.

For some people, yes absolutely. While others (myself included) tend to think it's not worth that much.
While I certainly don't just sort by low-high price and pick the cheapest, I do start at the bottom and work my way up; to a certain point, for things like cooler, design etc.

Overclocking is usually much more cost effective than just dropping an extra £150.
