boosting freeview signal

Yeah - get an amplifier! I got a battery powered one as someone said you can get AC interference with mains ones.

wrong forum..

but you can get signal boosters from plenty of places. big high street shops sell them. dunno how well they are gonna work for freeview tho.

best thing to do is to plug into your main aerial and if its not already, get it put on the roof. if its in the attack the signal may be weaker.

:)

One of those signal bossters you can buy might help, but dont hold em to that.

My signals well and crap at the minute, im lucky to get 5 channels from an aeriel on the roof, the fitter is coming back out next week to see if he can get it on the apex of the house.

wel i bought an antenna which says it can be used for digital but i get absolutely no signal in my room for either digital or analogue so i plugged it into the main ariel socket and i get around 3 channels and the signal is really bad and keeps cutting out

i found that angling my antenna to a strange angle gave me really good reception. That combined with my box allowing me to use two antennas. :D

ive tried everything with the antenna its useless. i think my room is like a blackspot for signals as i get hardly any wireless signal in it either.

think im gonna take the whole lot back and get a refund

Is it a thin vertical wire standing on a base? I got one like that and it's crap. Gives a good analogue picture but zero digital reception. I use an analogue internal aerial and it is almost perfect.

Mines the same - I have built in freeveiw and have yet to see a single channel!

Terrestrial channels suck too while the lass in the room next to mine has a great picture on her crap TV! Going to get a new cable and an amp for it.

Get a wideband aerial, they cost about £15-20 from a decent supplier and will give you a wall-to-wall reception, mount it nice and high and you'll get 40+ channels.

My problem is that I'm in a house share so I don't think a wideband aerial is suitable :(

Aye they're pretty big, but if there's already an aerial on the roof or in the loft it could be swapped for the wideband.

Or you could decorate it with sparkly things and hang it from your ceiling. :p

LOL

While I appreciate the thought sparkly doesn't really work for me and unfortunatley I doubt my landlord would be willing to change the aerial (and I don't intend to buy one for him to keep either!)

I've put off buying an amp though because I've heard so manyt times tha they just aren't worth it - anyone have an personal recommendation?

Not worth trying. If you can't get a single channel without an amp, you won't have much luck whatever you do. Amps should only really be used to overcome long downlead losses, or to compensate for a split.
