Don't wish to cause offence but do you actually know the point of a wide band aerial? It has lower gain than a grouped aerial so only should be used it needed, which it usually isn't.
To be honest, your best bet is getting a proper external aerial fitted. That way it WILL work and you won't have any problems. With the inevitable Analogue switch off it's not as if it wouldn't be used.
Still, not as bad as some of my customers who spend £2000 on a 42" Plasma and then are happy to watch a garbled digital signal or snowy analogue signal. Madness!
You mention landlord, how many people live at the premises?
