Boot device fail?

If you can get it to boot with the Nvidia GPU fitted either using HDMI or the iGPU or to see the screen try this:

RELEASE HIGHLIGHTS
To enable the latest DisplayPort 1.3 / 1.4 features, your graphics card may require a firmware update.

Without the update, systems that are connected to a DisplayPort 1.3 / 1.4 monitor could experience blank screens on boot until the OS loads, or could experience a hang on boot.

The NVIDIA Firmware Updater will detect whether the firmware update is needed, and if needed, will give the user the option to update it.

If you are currently experiencing a blank screen or hang on boot with a DP 1.3 or 1.4 monitor, please try one of the following workarounds in order to run the tool:

  • Boot using DVI or HDMI
  • Boot using a different monitor
  • Change boot mode from UEFI to Legacy; or Legacy to UEFI.
  • Boot using an alternate graphics source (secondary or integrated graphics card)
Once you have the tool downloaded, please run the tool and follow the on-screen instructions.

The latest NVIDIA graphics card drivers can be downloaded from: //www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx

For 32-bit NVIDIA Graphics Firmware Update Tool for DisplayPort 1.3 and 1.4, please download here.

Thanks guys.

Tried all the above..

but I don’t think it’s the gpu after all..I got hold of a card to test and get the same, DP and HDMI.

it’s a new mother board but does it look like the gpu slots on the board are goosed?

Could be a bad psu, could be bad slots on the motherboard.
You could also try checking BIOS to see if external graphics card have somehow been disabled. If you can't find the option, reset bios with jumper or battery removal

Hey guys, I ended up changing motherboard, same issue

I’m in the bios through intergrated graphics, again not working through gpu.

I can’t seem to find an option for external gpu? My motherboard is a ASUS TUF gaming z490 plus.

any help ASAP would be great.

hey guys,

I managed to get booted, by selecting the PCIE as the "primary" source for the monitor.

Now the problem im having is instability in Windows 10. It will hang then automatically reboot, I think it could be a RAM issue?

I think that because after the crashing I said "sod it" and entered the BIOS and enabled XMP (running at 3600Mhz) and loaded into W10 and it is yet to crash?

This is a fresh Windows install done with the motherboard currently in the machine, right? As in, you didn't install with one motherboard, then switch motherboards?

Crashes could be anything from overclocks, lack of power, faulty hardware, malfunctioning drivers etc
