boot device order?

Hi if I go into my bios z170-e mobo I have 2 boot devices for same SSD which one should be 1st boot device.

This is default order.

Windows boot manager ( Samsung MZVLV256HCHP-00000)
Samsung MZVLV256HCHP-00000

I do have windows installed on the SSD so that's right but which order is best. thanks.

As above, if you installed Windows via UEFI, then Windows Boot Manager will appear in the boot list and is the correct one. Installing Windows via legacy will only show the SSD.

Unless you have installed windows on more than one device, then there should be only one option for windows boot manager, this is always what you want to be booting from 1st.

I generally disable all drives in the boot order apart from the OS drive.
Then if I need to boot from USB or some other drive (to do a clean install for example) I'll manually enable it in BIOS..

Probably pointless but good practice from a security point of view.
