Hey guys,

Finishing my pc right now tomorrow, I was going to use a single 4tb nvme..

Is it beneficial at all to have a windows dedicated boot drive or is it not a big deal?

Classic engineer answer: it depends.

It can be a good idea to have anything you don't want to have to restore/lose if you have to reinstall the OS in a seperate partition or drive.

Similarly if you are confident in your backup and restore regime theb having one big disc/partition is fine, just might take some time to recover and reinstall/download stuff for Steam etc.

Thanks. I will stick with the one drive..it would just be games i would lose..and the 4tb drive I have has decent read/write speeds anyways.

I'd partition a 200/300gb chunk out of the drive for Windows for an easier life if you ever need to reinstall for whatever reason.

Otherwise you should be fine.

I use a 1tb gen 5 fast m.2 for windows and other gen 3 + 4 M.2s for storage including gemes. Remember a lot of mobos share lanes between the gpu and m.2 so do your homework. I have the Asrock Taichi x870e which doesnt share wheras a lot of top end Asus and MSI boards do.
