Boot from my new HDD

hello i have bought a new HDD and i want to copy allof my files accross but for some reason its not showing up in My computer i think i have installed it correctly but i dont know why it is not coming up.

Run disk management (administrative tools > computer management > storage) and check that it appears in your storage devices. It may need formatting.

ok it is showing the disk in (administrative tools > computer management > storage) but it says unallocated. should it say this?

Yes. You should format it, but you state in your heading "Boot from my new HDD". You will not achieve that by doing what you are doing. All you will have is a HD that will be visible to the operating system and you can use as storage.
