hey

Last night i was warned of thunder by my mum, so i thought i turned my pc off, turns out it was in sleep mode. I also removed the plug. Now i've found this out my pc is in a continuous boot loop, i've left it for 10 mins and it still wont work. What can i do :/?

press F8 for the windows boot menu, then choose Disable automatic restart on boot failure (or words to that effect). You should then see a BSOD (hopefully giving you more info)

Boot into safe mode by pressing F8 just after the POST, then reboot/shutdown as normal. See if this removes the boot loop.

yes taking the batter out and leaving it for 10 secs works on some motherboards but some dont like doing this so ensure you read the manual as posted.

what's the furthest it gets in the "loop"?

if all the above fails, you can try f10 for the recovery option.

this option will only be available if the operating system was installed by the factory. i.e pc bought from one of the high street retailers.

reset my cmos, still doesn't work. And you hear everything whir up then it dies and just keeps doing that, with no display.

ugh, getting restless, anyone know how to cure it, cmos reset no working, can't press f8 as i see no display and it doesnt work

Strange. I accidentally did something similar the other day - unplugged my desktop after putting it in Sleep mode. If I remember correctly I was simply presented with a screen alerting me to a problem loading Windows and giving me a few options including attempting to load it again or booting normally. Something like that anyway.

You say you have no display.. Do you even see your PC POST? It should be doing that no problem, as it's got nothing to do with loading an operating system (assuming, of course, that you see it POST when it's working normally). The same goes with entering the BIOS - should be unaffected by problems relating to Windows.

Hate to say it but I think there may be some kind of hardware problem caused when you switched it off (or perhaps something related to the storm). Definitely doesn't seem to be related to Windows and sleep mode.

just as it should post it dies. I dont actually think my mobo ever did beep post, it displayed it. And how come this has happened, its never happened before, turning power off during sleep hasnt killed my pc before. And my dad put a power kill switch on my plugs so it shouldnt be the storm
