Ok everyone i could really do with some of your extensive and endless expertise on a problem I'm having with my PC Please.

IL post up the specs first, and get that out of the way:

Intel I5 2500k
Gigabyte Z68-AP D3 Motherboard
8gb Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz
Cooler master GX650 PSU
Cooler master Hyper evo CPU cooler
Asus HD7850
Kingston Hyper x 120gb ssd.

The problem is that when i go near any type of overclock, my PC runs fine under load while gaming, Prime 95 stress tested for half hour fine. Temps don't go above 70c max. That's the highest iv ever had.
Whats weird though is when the PC sleeps and is woken it shuts down as if the OC is resetting. Or if i shutdown more often than not, it will not re-boot. It gets to post screen then re-boots itself continuously and wont even reach post screen after then.
My only way of doing anything is to power off, unplug and cmos reset it and revert to standard settings for everything.
My OC can be anything from 3.7 - 4.2ghz and it will do the same. Upped volts or standard volts still the same.
Iv tried RAM at 1600 and also at 1333 still the same.

So ok you say don't oc it then, but then this also happens after a while with everything set to stock. So now im really stuck for ideas.
The one thing which leads me away from a PSU problem is that the cmos reset works every time.

So I'm swaying more towards new board, but do any of you think it could be PSU related, before i go buy a new board?
Or am i missing something really obvious here?
Your thoughts and ideas would really help me out here guys
Thanks!

Got same board myself in 2nd rig with a 3570k in it...had many problems with that too.

What bios are you using ? latest uefi one?

Not tried letting mine go to sleep but if i use the easy tune (advanced tune not the auto thing) to overclock in windows (only way to get LLC to work it seems)...then when i reboot it has to restore from back up bios everytime.

TBH its a cheap board so i am not expecting much....was happy to get the 3570k stable at 4.2 with only 1.02v (1.08v stock but LLC doesnt work via bios/option not there)

I would say your problems are board related and bios related as it doesn't seem the best for that board

Thanks.
Yeah your right, it is a cheap board which is another reason for my suspicions on the board.

Im using the FD bios not the latest UEFI one, as my GPU doesn't like UEFI apparently.

Its so frustrating this. It can happen at any time really. Think im gonna have to just pick up Z77 or a second hand better Z68 and be done with it :(

Not tried the fd (well very briefly) as had to flash to uefi for board to work with ivy chip.

Nothing against gigabyte boards but big diff between a sub £50 board and a £300 one it would seem.....
