Hi peeps,

Got a bit of problem with my Windows installation, was trying to change my RAM timings on my G.Skill kit but this messed upped my overclock somehow as well as not letting me boot onto my Windows Install on my Seagate drive.

Once it posted it would try to boot from CD/DVD and then for some reason over the network.

Anyway I tried to fix usual FIXBOOT/FIXMBR methods but that got me nowhere.

Now when I try to boot from my Seagate it gives me the "Windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem.
Could not read from the selected boot disk. Check boot path and disk hardware."

I reinstalled Windows onto another HDD I had lying around and that works fine. It is albe to see my Seagate drive and all the files on it, but when I select to boot from the Seagate it just boots from the other HDD.

I guess my question is, is there anyway that I can reinstate my Seagate's windows installation. Without having to re-install Windows again! :(

Thanks in advance

I'm assuming you've put the speed settings back the way they were?

If you're using an on-board controller I have found that sometimes certain timings stretch the controller beyond the limit at which it can function and produces the effect of disk errors which can corrupt data.

Try booting from a CD and using the repair windows function. That normally keeps all of the data intact and repairs such problems.

Put the timings back but it still gives the same error...

I tried to do a Windows Repair install using my SP2 disk but it said it would delete everything, best give it a go with my SP1a disk.

Thanks for advice will know for the future!

edit: managed to get it back through some kind of voodoo magic, still a bit messed though will sort it tomorrow. :o
