Boot problems..

My friends PC is having problems booting up. When he turns on it powers up and it POSTs but after a few seconds the monitor goes black (light goes from green to orange) - the pc is still whirring away. Im hundreds of miles from him so cant really take a closer inspection. Any ideas?

Hummm reset the cmos see if that helps first, if everything else is still running i would say it maybe the monitor,or the GPU.See if he can try another monitor and if that does`nt work try another GPU i know its a long shot.

Can he get into the BIOS? does he loose video just as XP starts to load or before that?
Does the HD still show activity after video is lost, as if windows is still booting, just with no video output.
