Boot Problems

Got a Motherboard an P4 2.8 for free plugged it all in with a IDE HDD. The HD is fine cos tried it out on another comp. This is what happends

Please select what operating system
Select Windows XP
Flashes on a blue screen for less than a second
Restarts

Ive tried booting from a CD but cant seem to get it to work, any ideas before I trash it? Thanks Dylan

Have you done a fresh install of Windows since you got your new motherboard and CPU, if not then i would highly recommend it.
