I have just put a new machine together but seem to be experiancing some boot problems.

THe first time I try and start the machine it cannot see the HD(which is configured as the first boot dev).

So if I hit reset the machine boots again and can see it.

Anyone know why this might be?

Don't know if this is the answer as i'm a n00b still but anyway.. Could it be to do with the jumper on the HD being set on slave or something?

Is it an Asus Motherboard?

If you have another device with an IDE Hard Drive, say an Optical Drive, you will need to set the jumpers on the Optical Drive to 'Master' and the IDE Drive to 'Slave' or even set them both to 'Cable Select'.

Edit: Just seen the specs and it aint got SATA.

What do you use this motherboard for dirkdiggler?

Sorry for the slow reply.

It will be used mainly for word processing and office stuff, will not be put under very much strain.

Strange thing is I just tried it again and it booted first time!

I would like it to be stable though as it is not being built for me, any more ideas?
